about

Every band which appears on "The Moon Revisited..." was profoundly influenced by Pink Floyd and wanted to be a part of this tribute. Each of the bands showcased on this album worked separately, yet each strived to maintain the thread that would connect all the pieces of this high-concept album. To put together a record such as this was a major effort musically and logistically but all parties involved felt that "tribute" was the motivating force.

The album's final cut, "Eclipse", features the vocalists from each of the groups that appear on this album in the finale of the great piece of rock history. Every word that is sung is infused with the emotion of the original version as well as an extra added element of respect for the originators. A Record of Hope

At the time of Dark Side of the Moon’s release in March of 1973, South Vietnam was all but lost to the communist forces; anti-war demonstrations were no longer exclusive
to mindful “hippies” as the silent majority of mainstream America joined in the cause;
and President Nixon was busy fighting another war–the Watergate scandal.
People in the U.S., exhausted from a decade of war and social turmoil, were now faced
with a corrupt president and an increasing distrust in their government.
Twenty-two years later and not much has changed. Only now we face conflict
in the Middle East, march at abortion rallies, and follow politicians who seem to walk
only a few small steps ahead of scandal. Throughout those 22 years, something else has
not changed…Dark Side of the Moon is as relevant and influential now as it was then.
Thematically, Dark Side of the Moon is simply the story of life. With the beginning heartbeat
representing birth to the final heartbeat of death ending the record, the lyrics warn of life’s
tragedies such as the passage of time (Time), greed (Money), war (Us and Them), and death
(Great Gig in the Sky). There are endless interpretations, and part of the magic is listening
and determining what this record means to you.
Having sold over 25 million copies world wide and as it still sells one million units per year,
Dark Side of the Moon continues to appeal across generational lines. Even the band
is hard-pressed to explain Dark Side’s status as a cultural icon:
David Gilmour: “Always baffled me, still baffles me.”
But perhaps Roger Waters best said it when looking at Dark Side of the Moon in retrospect.
He explained, “The album is about the potential that all human beings have
for making something positive out of their lives if they so choose.
It seems that often we’re overtaken by dark forces and we don’t achieve our full potential.
And that’s what the record is about…it’s a record of hope.”
